Catherine Tyldesley has delighted fans by confirming her return to the small screen. The actress, who is best known for playing Eva Price in Coronation Street, confirmed the news on Instagram after a catch-up with her former ITV soap co-star.
Back in 2017, Cath confirmed she was leaving the cobbles after seven years and went on to star in Sky’s Trollied and BBC’s Scarborough before appearing in ITV drama Viewpoint last year.
Now the 38-year-old has confirmed her next project, weeks after welcoming her second child into the world. She revealed the news on Instagram with a photo of herself showing her dark locks sweeping her shoulders as she wore a knitted pink tanktop over a white shirt.
“Meet ‘Kate’,” she wrote alongside the snap to her thousands of followers before revealing she had actually filmed for the TV show while pregnant with her daughter, Iris. She said: “I had a glorious time filming this (despite the morning sickness) … standby/set your planners!”
She then added: “It’s back and it’s bloody brilliant #McDonald&Dodds @itv 8pm THIS SUNDAY!” before her former Corrie co-stars rushed to share their support. Rosie Webster actress Helen Flanagan said: “Yes babe”, while Charlie Condou, who played Marcus in the ITV soap, said: “Pretty in pink”. Meanwhile, Charley Webb, who starred as Debbie Dingle in Emmerdale, simply left a flame emoji under Cath’s post.
Fans were also sharing their excitement. @denipip15 said: “Woo hoo, love this programme.” @ellsnicholas commented: “Exciting! Can’t wait to watch.” @littlenatty4 wrote: “Love McDonald and Dodds so very excited it is back and just fab you are in this too @auntiecath17.”
Cath shared the news after catching up with one of her former Corrie co-star Samia Longchambon. The actress, who plays Maria Windass in the ITV soap, paid the mum-of-two a visit to get in some cuddles with her friend’s new arrival. Cath announced the joyous news that she was expecting her second child with husband Tom Pitfield back in October and revealed back in April that the couple, who are also parents to seven-year-old son Alfie, had welcomed their new bundle of joy into the world.
Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-two shared a black and white image of the newborn’s tiny legs and feet and said: “We are so happy to announce that our beautiful daughter has arrived,” she said. “We are grateful beyond words and feel overjoyed that our family is complete.”
She then revealed that she and Tom named their newborn daughter Iris Ella. The Stockport-born TV star told Hello! magazine that she played a character called Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies in 2007 and she had “loved it ever since”.
Cath shared a picture of Samia and Iris to her Instagram Story and said: “When Iris met Auntie Samia tho,” adding a tearful emoji. “@samia_longchambon love you xxx,” she added. Samia, who is also a mum-of-two, then reshared the post to her own page and said: [heart emoji] you both!”
