ITV Britain’s Got Talent blunder as fans spot ‘two’ David Walliams’ amid topless scenes

Just one David Walliams wasn’t enough on Sunday night as Britain’s Got Talent aired the second episode of its comeback weekend. The hit ITV show returned over Easter, two years after last being on-screen due to it being cancelled last year.

A whopping average of 6.1 million viewers, with a TV audience peak of 7.2 million, tuned in to see an array of acts from a comedic robot to an original singer from The Greatest Showman take to the stage at the London Palladium in front of David, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon.

It comes after the filming of the 15th series had been scheduled to begin last January, however, production was delayed and then postponed until 2022 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Saturday’s launch episode saw Loren Allred, 32, reveal during her audition that she was the voice behind the hit song Never Enough from the 2018 musical film The Greatest Showman. After performing the well-known film track, the singer received Amanda’s Golden Buzzer.

There was also a young ventriloquist from St Helens, a dad-of-two who was surprised with his audition by his mum and two daughters, and a Titan the Robot who secured four yeses after spraying water out of its mechanical eyes.

The second episode on Sunday night (April 17) saw more talented people take to the stage as well as those who give viewers a giggle and see Simon hitting his red buzzer to get it to stop – including a dog who refused to ‘sing’ with his owner, leaving her on her own with her operatic performance.

David whipped off his shirt while on stage with Joy

But all eyes ended up on David who ditched his seat on the judging panel to bust some moves alongside Joy, a 75-year-old great-grandmother who was persuaded by her family to appear on the show to show off her breakdancing skills. She told the judges: “I’ve got to do it for them, haven’t I?”

The Little Britain star was watched dancing along with Joy to Bits and Pieces by Artemesia and Sandstorm by Darude, before he took off his jacket and unbuttoned his shirt to reveal his torso, prompting head judge Simon to press his buzzer in dismay.

However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed there was a problem as when David got up to go on stage, he appeared both in his seat and alongside Joy in a brief moment that many others who had tuned in may have missed.

@jamie_pragnell tweeted: “So David Walliams is walking up on stage, yet still sat in his seat watching Joy dancing? Two of him……”

“Brilliant editing from the #BGT team, David up on stage and David also sat in his seat, at the same time!” @allantanddec commented.

@KyleJon3ss said: “David got up on stage but at the same time was still sitting @davidwalliams #BGT.”

“Didn’t know David had a twin #BGT… David in his seat and David on the stage,” @jen_newcastle echoed.
