ITV Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall appears in sweet soap throwback as co-star says he loves him on 40th birthday

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has been reminded of his early years on the cobbles thanks to a throwback photo from his co-star shared to mark his 40th birthday. The actor, who is best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, is celebrating the special occasion on holiday with his girlfriend Tisha Merry, daughter Sienna and his family.

On Thursday (August 11), Alan reshared posts from his pals as the birthday messages came flooding in for the Corrie favourite. One of those messages was from Samia Longchambon who celebrated her own 40th birthday last month.

She shared a photo taken at the long-running soap’s belated Christmas/spring party earlier this year. It showed the Maria Windass actress sandwiched in between the birthday boy, who she had added a gif of a crown to his head, and on-screen brother Andy Whyment who plays Corrie’s Kirk Sutherland.

“Happy 40th birthday to you @alanhalsall,” she penned. “Caught me up,” she added with a string of celebratory emojis. But she couldn’t resist delving into the archives and headed back to 2000 when Tyrone and Maria had just got engaged when the young mechanic proposed atop Blackpool Tower.

The image Samia, from Eccles, chose showed the pair looking fresh-faced in Roys Rolls as they showed off Maria’s engagement ring. “Couldn’t not post this little beauty today…” Samia wrote alongside the image. “Have the best day my friend! I [heart emoji] you… here’s to the next 40 years of you being a legend.”

Andy, who has played cobbles favourite Kirk for 22 years, also got on the throwback train, sharing a selection of snaps to his Instagram page of the pair from awards, holidays, and on the golf course. “Today @alanhalsall turns 40 we’ve known each other for over 30 years,” the Salford actor wrote.

“I feel so lucky that i can call you my best mate my brother. Happy 40th Birthday have the best day. Love you bro.” But Alan did have a bone to pick with his pal. “All the pictures and memories I have with you…… and you pic that as your 1st pic,” he wrote talking about the slightly distorted photo of the pair at the 2007 Inside Soap Awards.

But fans were loving it. @jennifer_roberts77 wrote; “A very special friendship. Happy 40th to Alan.” @judejackie said: “Happy 40th. you look so young. lucky you. Have a good day.” @pamela.rose1 commented: “What a lovely tribute! Have an awesome day.” @tamdurston shared: “Wow, you guys haven’t really aged! I love you guys on Coronation Street!” While @ thetimallen83 added: “No way Tyrone 40 defo does not look it.”

One of Alan’s newest co-stars Jamie Kenna, who made his Weatherfield debut last year as Phill Whittaker until his quiet exit last month, also took to Instagram, sharing a video of Alan on the Corrie set pretending to ride an inflatable unicorn.

Fans of the soap may remember it was used in one of Phill and Tyrone’s comical fight scenes. “Love you @alanhalsall,” Jamie penned alongside the clip, adding various gifs which read ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Happy 40th Birthday’.

Sam Aston, who stars as Chesney Brown in Corrie, may have won the cutest message, however, as he posted a picture of his lookalike son, Sonny, on Instagram. “From on birthday boy to another, hope you’ve had the best day @alanhalsall.”

“Aww my awesome little birthday buddy,” Alan replied as he reshared the post with his own social media followers. “Happy Birthday Sonny,” he added.
