Emmerdale star Kevin Mathurin has revealed his secret connection to Bradley Walsh’s wife as the pair cuddled up at a recent awards bash. The actor, who plays Charles Anderson in the ITV soap, attended the British Soap Awards alongside his co-stars last weekend.
It was a big night for the Leeds-based show with the team racking up the most awards on the night with a total number of four. The Dales stars were out in force at the glitzy do, hosted by Phillip Schofield live on ITV, as they rubbed shoulders with their fellow actors from Coronation Street, EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Doctors.
And Kevin, who joined Emmerdale as vicar Charles back at the end of 2020, appeared to enjoy catching up with a few old friends. The London-born star took to Instagram to share a selection of snaps from the night, including one on the red carpet with his partner and DJ Nikki Beatnik.
He also posed with many of his cast mates, including on-screen partner Rebecca Sarker, who plays Manpreet Sharma, and on-screen son Ethan, played by Emile Joh. “WE DID IT!! @emmerdale @itv,” he started the caption of he celebratory post to his thousands of followers.
“Thank you to our viewers and fans for your votes. Congratulations to @markcharnock, @paige_sandhu & the rest of the cast, crew and writing team for the well deserved winning nominations @thebritishsoapawards last night. BEST SOAP? COME ON!!!” Kevin added. “Of course love to @djnikkibeatnik for your constant love & support. So happy you were there to meet everyone and share the experience with me, babe.”
But there was another post that caught fans’ eyes. He cuddled up to The Chase host Bradley’s wife Donna for a snap before she gave him a massive peck on the cheek. And he went on to reveal why the pair appeared to know each other well.
“Right, one more photo dump from the @thebritishsoapawards last Saturday,” he started. “Lovely seeing you after so many years @donnadwalsh.”
Kevin then explained: “I’ve known this beautiful lady since I was 7yrs old. We are Canning Town through and through and you led the way for me to follow. When I saw @barneywalsh present the award all I thought was ‘blimey he really looks like his mum’…and low and behold there you were. I love you.”
There was also an appearance from Hollyoaks legend Nick Pickard, who is famed for playing Tony Hutchinson in the Channel 4 soap, as the pair beamed for the camera, Kevin said: “And big up to my dude @nickpickardofficial. I have fond memories of you and your brothers at school. Brilliant seeing you after all these years. Congratulations on your continued success in Hollyoaks bro. Your lot were having a blast!”
