Pop star Michelle Heaton has issued a statement to say she’s there to support her friend Katie Price.

The Liberty X star was supported by the former glamour model in her battle with alcohol addiction.

Michelle, who went to rehab following an intervention from celebrity pals led by Katie, says she will be supporting her friend of 21 years in private.

The mother-of-two, who has previously told how she had been just days from death after going on a three-year cocaine and booze binge, wrote on her Instagram: “As you all know, Katie was there for me when I needed her and I of course am there for her!”

She continued: “Right now, please give us all space.

“And sorry to those requests to myself and my manager, we will not be talking about this or doing any interviews about it, unless Katie herself or her family wish me to.

“Our friendship over 21 years is built on trust. At this point I just reiterate what her family have already said and will support all in private.”

And Michelle added: “To anyone else out there who needs help – ask for it and you’ll be surprised at the support that’s given to you. Asking is the hardest but first step.”

Today Katie appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court following a crash near her home in Sussex

The incident happened on Tuesday morning (September 28) near Partridge Green, Horsham.

She has pleaded guilty with driving while unfit to drive through drink, using a motor vehicle on a public place without third party insurance and driving while disqualified.

After being confronted by police at the scene, she was heard saying, “I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all”, the court heard.

A drugs wipe gave a positive reading for cocaine, prosecutor Debbie Jones said.

She was told that her sentencing has been deferred until December 15 to allow her to have treatment at the Priory Centre, speak to the probation service, and not commit any further offences.

Chair of the bench Julie Hutton handed Katie Price an interim driving ban and warned her: “We regularly send people to prison for driving whilst disqualified.”

Defence solicitor Joe Harrington said: “She has had a lot of personal problems recently.

“Currently she is in the process of bankruptcy proceedings so her house may be repossessed.

“So quite a lot going on in this lady’s life, a really difficult period.”

Mr Harrington also argued that the driving was a “one-off” incident.
