Strictly Come Dancing co-stars enjoy Christmas break together

Strictly Come Dancing stars Giovanni Pernice and Kai Widdrington have headed off on a Christmas break following the end of the competition.

The professional dancers faced each other in the BBC dance contest for weeks with their celebrity partners Rose Ayling-Ellis and AJ Odudu.

The pair were due to go up against each other in Strictly’s 2021 final earlier this month after they made it to the end of the series alongside John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.

But after AJ suffered a heartbreaking injury, the pair were forced out of the final at the last minute.

Giovanni went on the lift the Glitterball with Rose and all the couples have since gone their separate ways for the festive season before reuniting for Strictly’s live tour next year – except for the Italian dancer and Kai.

Gio, 31, took to his Instagram with a video of the festive light displays in La Piazzetta, in Portofino on the Italian Riviera.

As he filmed showing the impressive Christmas tree and other twinkly lights, the camera panned to show Kai, 26, taking in the surrounding before smiling for the camera.

Giovanni shared the clips on Instagram

On Boxing Day Kai, from Southampton, posted a beautiful family picture as they celebrated Christmas.

“Hope everyone has had as good a Christmas as we did, spent with the nearest and dearest,” he wrote to his followers.

“Sending lots of love from the whole Widdrington clan.”

And last week Giovanni offered an update on his Christmas festivities with an adorable family snap.

Taking to Instagram, the dancing star told his hundreds of thousands of followers: “Merry Xmas Eve from the Godfather and the Godson,” alongside a picture of him holding the baby boy who was dressed in his very own Santa outfit.

And it quickly melted their hearts.
