Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu has a secret Coronation Street past that viewers may not even realise.
The TV presenter is currently competing in the BBC dance show alongside new professional dancer Kai Widdrington.
AJ, 33, got off to an incredible start in the competition, receiving high praise for her debut dance last weekend.
Dressed to impress in a dazzling gold number, she topped the leaderboard with a score of 34 for her and Kai’s jive to Gold Dust by DJ Fresh.
Judge Motsi Mabuse even hailed her routine “the best dance of the evening, without a doubt”.
AJ, who recently hosted Channel 4’s one-off revival of The Big Breakfast alongside comedian Mo Gilligan, is best known for her TV roles.
The TV star, from Blackburn, had presented a number of shows including The Voice, The Voice Kids, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, Don’t Rock The Boat and Apocalypse Wow.
But AJ has also dabbled in acting work.
Appearing on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on BBC Two on Wednesday night, former pro dancer turned host Janette Manrara asked her: “You were an extra on Coronation Street a while back, right?”
AJ then confirmed: “Yes back in the day.”
But despite it only being a minor role, she still won the praise of one of Corrie’s current stars.
Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully in the ITV soap, tweeted on Saturday night: “Well @AJOdudu must be protected at all costs. Beautiful, funny, a smile from ear to ear, legs up to her eyeballs and probably the most northern gov I’ve ever heard on my telly.
“She is quite simply, magnificent #Strictly2021.”
Janette read the tweet out to AJ who beamed before saying: “Wow! I’m actually starstruck.
“I can’t believe it. I’m absolutely buzzing.”
AJ and Kai will be back in the ballroom this weekend with a Foxtrot to Amy Winehouse track Tears Dry On Their Own.
The first elimination will also take place on Sunday night.
