Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary appeared to address This Morning viewers comments amid their return.
The hosting duo were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show again after appearing on the first episode of the year on Tuesday.
And moments into Wednesday’s episodes, the hosting duo appeared, dancing along to Eminem’s track Without Me which was being played out in the studio.
“Yes we are back,” Alison told viewers as the music began to quieten down.
“I mean it’s a day late,” Dermot protested. “We were here yesterday, why didn’t they play this yesterday?”
“I know, I know,” Alison agreed as Dermot then asked: “Are they surprised we’re back?”
“Everyones surprised,” Alison then remarked to which Dermot confessed: “You’re no more surprised than we are to be back.”
It comes after This Morning viewers were left confused yesterday (January 4) when Alison and Dermot appeared to host the show instead of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
The presenting duo haven’t been seen live on the show since December 17.
Holly, 40, and Phil, 59, also made an appearance on This Morning’s Christmas Day special which had been pre-recorded.
So viewers were expecting them back during the first week of 2022, leaving Holly and Phil under fire.
But with the usual presenting pair expected to be back from Monday, some still have questions.
“Why are Alison and Dermot on #ThisMorning? How long are Holly and Phil off for? They do realise that even the schools have gone back?” @mrscarter22 tweeted.
@Miss_Vix88 said: “How come Holly & Phil are having an extra week off when schools are back and people are back at work #thismorning.”
“Are Holly & Phil ever coming back to #ThisMorning or they have holidays forever!!!” @BrandonJT79 added.
Alison and Dermot are celebrating a year as main presenters of the show.
They were drafted into the role last January in place of Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
The husband and wife team still presented during the holidays but this will no longer be the case as Eamonn quit This Morning last month for a new job on GB News.
