The X Factor star Tom Mann has shared a poignant message from his fiancee after announcing the devastating news that she had passed away. Dancer Dani Hampson, 34, died in the early hours of Saturday morning on what would have been the couple’s wedding day.
Tom, 28, who was a member of the boyband Stereo Kicks in the 2014 series of the reality show, shared a heartbreaking post yesterday (Monday June 21) saying: “On what was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives ended in irreversible heartbreak. I feel like I have cried an ocean. We never made it to the alter; or got to say our vows, or dance our first dance.”
Grieving the loss of his partner, Tom has now posted on Instagram Stories a moving poem that Danielle had shared on her own Instagram profile back in January 2019. The poem written by Allie Michelle reads: “Keep the honest moments close to your heart. The ones that are the most human.”
“When you laugh until your ribs ache with your friends, when you feel stars exploding inside of you from falling in love, when life breaks you open and those tears of transformation pour like a river from your soul.
“Life is really quite simple. We get to experience this planet for a brief while. We get to learn how to love ourselves and one another for the strange, messy, and magical creatures we are.
“What a gift it is to have a human life. If you look a little closer, there is always something to be grateful for. True gratitude isn’t ignoring the darkness.
“It’s participating with your whole heart in whatever moment life brings. It’s leaning into the unfolding process and having the courage to not need all of the answers.” And Dani had added: “This is nice. Happy Saturday.”
Dani’s final Instagram post was of the couple enjoying an idyllic trip to Sardinia with their eight-month-old son Bowie as tributes poured in. itssophiemilner said: “Dani thank you for your positivity and sunshine. You will be so so missed xxxx” And singer Twinnie said on the post: “I literally can’t believe this what a beautiful Angel heaven has gained.”
Tom had been due to marry Dani twice previously but the dates had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sharing a tribute to her ‘beautiful, big sister in law’ on Instagram his sister Helena told: “She waited so patiently for her special day, 2 postponed dates later, it was finally here.
“The 18th was my birthday, and even though it should have been all about her, she still made plans around her own wedding weekend to celebrate me too. I can never thank her enough for her selflessness and always, always putting other people first, even when she didn’t have to. This day will forever now be a celebration of you.”
In September 2020 Dani shared a loving message with her fiance about their postponed nuptials. “To think of what today should have been is strange, but we count ourselves incredibly fortunate that a wedding date is all we’ve lost,” she wrote.
“Everyone has a story from 2020 – I’m just grateful you’re so heavily featured in mine….. I can’t wait to marry you, but the world has other plans. So for now lets celebrate our special little date 25.09.2020.” A month earlier she was thrown a ‘mini hen do.’
Talented Dani, who welcomed their son Bowie in October with Tom, danced on tour with the Spice Girls, Take That and performed with Harry Styles in his video for Treat People With Kindness. Take That star Howard Donald tweeted: “I’m gutted beyond words that one of our dancers on Wonderland has passed away. What a beautiful and super talented dancer she was.”
He added: “I’m happy to say I danced with her and the UK dance world will be shocked and saddened just like I am.” And the Spice Girls messaged: “We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Dani Hampson who was part of the Spiceworld 2019 family. Sending love and strength to Tom, Bowie and Dani’s family and friends.”
