Jessica Simpson shared a bikini selfie while tanning on her 46th birthday, staying true to her self-described identity as a lifelong "sun lover."
Jessica Simpson celebrated 46 exactly how a self-described "sun lover" would.
The singer marked the occasion with a close-up selfie showing her tanning in a black-and-white polka-dot bikini, simply captioning the photo, "π«46π« July 10/26 ".
Simpson reclined beneath a purple crocheted cover while wearing oval dark sunglasses. Her blonde hair was styled in a loose side braid, and she accessorized the polka-dot bikini with layered turquoise bead necklaces, a square green pendant, dangling stone earrings and stacked bracelets.

With the sun illuminating her face, the "With You" singer completed the birthday look with glossy lips and a relaxed expression.

The birthday post comes as Simpson continues her return to music after years away from the stage.

During Thursday's episode of "The Jennifer Hudson Show," the singer revealed that her children have never seen her perform live because she put her music career on hold to focus on motherhood and building the Jessica Simpson Collection.
"They've never seen me perform," Simpson said. "I really wanted to be a mom. I wanted to focus on the Jessica Simpson Collection."
Now that she has returned to the stage, Simpson said her children have embraced the next chapter of her career.

"The kids are very proud of me," she said. "They supported me... They knew I was following my dreams, and they saw how happy it made me and how much peace it gave me. It feels brand new again, which is a beautiful thing."
Simpson said her children supported her as she began traveling to Nashville to write and record new music. She also explained that her latest music reflects a more personal approach to songwriting.
"I'm gonna only be honest through music from here on out," Simpson said. "Like I can't sing other people's lyrics if I'm gonna put my name on it."
She credited the release of her 2020 memoir, "Open Book," with helping her reconnect with herself after decades in the spotlight.
"I've never felt so heard. I've never felt so seen in my life," she said. "I connected with my younger self."

The birthday post also comes months after Simpson reflected on her lifelong love of tanning in an interview with Elle magazine.
The Texas native described herself as a lifelong "sun lover," recalling summers spent by the pool and admitting she rarely thought about sunscreen growing up.
"I am a born-and-bred Texan sun lover. My birthday is in July and every birthday party I had was in the pool. My buns were always tan," Simpson told the outlet.
Today, Simpson said she still enjoys having a tan but approaches time in the sun differently.

"I still like the tan, trust me, but there are ways to go about it," she said.
She also reflected on how her perspective has evolved with age.
"I've never been that person who is terrified to be out in the sun because of wrinkles," Simpson said. "It just happens and is a part of life."
