Red Sox fans beg team to trade 'toxic' Jarren Duran after yet another embarrassing incident
Jarren Duran's dugout blowup over Willson Contreras not scoring adds to a long list of incidents as the MLB trade deadline approaches for Boston.
No team in baseball is more sad to see July end than the Boston Red Sox.
With one day left in the month, the Sox have surged in the American League, going a stunning 25-5 since June 25, including a 15-game win streak that was snapped last week.
In the last six weeks, Boston has gone from arguably the worst team in baseball, to a full two games up in the AL Wild Card race, and only seven games back in the division.
The team has gone from sellers to, reportedly, big-time buyers ahead of next week's trade deadline, as a three-game set with the LA Dodgers looms this weekend.
So, yeah — it's all ham & eggs right now in Boston ...
... Except for one nagging thorn in the team's side.
Yes, once again, outfielder Jarren Duran is becoming a headache:
Lordy. I watched that play live, and I was stunned. I couldn't believe Jarren Duran was actually upset that Willson Contreras didn't score from third on what was essentially a pop-up to left field.
I thought I was seeing things. I thought I was going crazy.
But no, he was legit angry at either A) Contreras for not trying, or B) third base coach Chad Epperson for not sending a 34-year-old first baseman on a ball that was caught 20-feet behind him.
Either way, it was such a bad look for a player who has been a major headache for the Red Sox for the better part of three years now.
A constant, major headache.
There was the "incident" during an at-bat at Fenway Park a few years back where Duran was caught on a hot mic calling a fan a nasty name.
There was the incident in Cleveland last year with a fan. There was the other incident earlier this year in Minnesota, also with a fan. There was a THIRD incident, just last month, with a Yankees fan.
And now this.
Here's the thing ... the MLB trade deadline is next week. The Red Sox have a logjam of outfielders — all of them very good.
Except Duran, who is hitting an abysmal .195 in 101 games this season. Read that again.

For those wondering, that is the WORST average for a qualified hitter (3.1 plate appearances per game) in all of baseball.

The Red Sox traded Rafael Devers last summer because he was considered a problem in the clubhouse. At the time, Devers — the team's FRANCHISE player — was hitting around .280 with 15 home runs. And they traded him because he was a cancer in the clubhouse.
It's past time to deal with Duran. The production doesn't warrant the headache that comes with it. Anyone with eyeballs can see it.
