WATCH: E-bike teen takeover swarms downtown city streets blocking traffic, leading to charges

Video shows hundreds of teens on e-bikes swarming cars, blocking an ambulance, and running red lights in downtown Orlando, leading to charges.

Hundreds of teens on e-bikes caused chaos in a busy downtown stretch of Orlando, Florida, which led to several charges, police say.

The road ruckus happened earlier this month, and police said the large group posed a significant safety risk and traffic delay to nearby residents.

The Orlando Police Department posted a video on social media of the riders swarming cars at intersections and blocking an ambulance with flashing lights.

In the same video, officers appear to apprehend a few of the riders, as seen both on bodycam footage and surveillance video.

In the post, the police department said in part, "Reckless riding, running red lights, blocking traffic, and blocking an ambulance and other emergency vehicles from responding puts everyone at risk, including the riders themselves."

Orlando police said to FOX 35 Orlando in a statement: "Because of the size and mobility of the group, not every rider was immediately apprehended. However, officers took enforcement action when it could be done safely"
