Cubs legend Sammy Sosa speaks Pete Crow-Armstrong's three-home run game against Reds into existence
Sammy Sosa predicted Pete Crow-Armstrong would hit three home runs at Wrigley Field, and the Chicago Cubs star delivered in a stunning 17-5 win.
Chicago Cubs superstar Pete Crow-Armstrong may have locked up National League MVP honors on Saturday with a monster performance against the Cincinnati Reds, and Sammy Sosa seems to have known it was coming.
Crow-Armstrong began Saturday afternoon's contest with what was his eighth lead-off home run of the season, and it served as a preview of what was to come for the center fielder at the dish.
In the bottom of the second inning, PCA connected for another home run down the right-field line to give Chicago a 6-2 lead, but he wasn't done there. In the seventh inning, Crow-Armstrong hit a no-doubt home run to center field to complete the first three-home run game of his young career.

The 24-year-old wound up going 4-for-6 at the plate, driving in six runs with his three home runs in Chicago's 17-5 win over Cincinnati.
The face of the franchise hitting a trio of home runs certainly makes for a memorable afternoon at Wrigley Field, but to add to the aura, the Cubs honored their 150th Anniversary Team with a ceremony before the opening pitch on Saturday.

Among the Chicago legends being honored was Sammy Sosa, and Crow-Armstrong shared that the two had a brief chat before the opening pitch, one in which Sosa revealed he may be a fortune teller.
"Sammy did say I was gonna hit three today, Sammy Sosa told me I was gonna hit three, and I hit three," Crow-Armstrong explained during his postgame interview on the field. "Put that on the record."
Talk about some Wrigley Field magic.
After his three-home-run afternoon, Crow-Armstrong added a serious cushion over Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani in the National League MVP race while still having a chance at putting together a 40-40 campaign with 36 home runs and 32 stolen bases to his name.
If PCA does end up being named MVP of the National League, he would become the 10th player in franchise history to do so. The last to take home the honor was Kris Bryant in 2016, and prior to that, it was Sosa in 1998, the year he hit 66 home runs.
