Sophie Cunningham sends blunt message to booing, trans flag-waving WNBA crowd after drilling shot
Portland fans waved a trans flag and booed Sophie Cunningham every touch, but she drilled 3 of 5 from three in the Fever's 112-98 win Friday.
The Sophie Cunningham train rolled on through liberal Portland Friday night, and it didn't slow down for anyone.
And that includes all the boo-birds in the crowd who waved a trans flag every time Sophie touched the ball!
Cunningham and the Indiana Fever took down the Fire, 112-98, but nobody is here for the Xs and Os from the big win. Let's be honest.

She dominated. Again.
The left's most-feared athlete finished with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. She finished with the second-highest +/- of any player on the court (+18). Some player named Caitlin Clark led the way with a +23.
Wonder if she's any good?
Anyway, Cunningham faced a ton of nonsense from the onset, mainly from the crowd. Shockingly, those in California don't seem to agree with her very sane take that men don't belong in women's sports (novel concept), and they greeted her with boos every time she touched the ball.
Frankly, it didn't work out great:
"Sophie Cunningham knocks down the three and then lets the crowd hear about it!"
That's right. She did. With a big, fat "L" right to their booing faces after drilling the shot. Lordy. What a feeling that must be, especially in a place like Portland.
Side note: How funny is it that Sophie Cunningham's first two games after sending the country into a spiral for saying men don't belong in locker rooms were in SEATTLE and then PORTLAND? The WNBA Gods must just despise her.
Speaking of those Portland fans ... Just look at how they spend their Friday nights:
Imagine buying tickets to a sporting event just to purely go there and wave a trans flag and boo one specific player the entire night. What a life. What a calling.
Sadly, Cunningham didn't give them much ammo. She missed two shots all night, and the Fever won their fifth straight game.
