A Bunch of AI Platforms Are Down, Including ChatGPT
If you're having trouble accessing ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok, you're not alone.
If you're having trouble accessing AI platforms Thursday morning, you're not alone. It appears apps and services including ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok are currently down, or experiencing issues in service. ChatGPT and Grok are both unresponsive when I try to use them, while Claude does appear to respond at this time.
ChatGPT appears to be experiencing the most issues, at least per Downdetector. The site, which accepts user reports of issues with apps and services, currently shows over 12,000 reports for ChatGPT alone. Claude has over six thousand reports at the time of writing, while Grok has fewer, but still many over the course of this morning.
According to OpenAI's status page, the company is experiencing issues with both ChatGPT and Codex. Anthropic has also acknowledged issues with Claude, including for its Mythos 5.1, Fable 5.1, and Opus 5 models, and says it is working on a fix. xAI shows that all Grok functions appear to be down at this time.
It's not clear exactly what's causing these issues, or if they are all related to one another. Typically, outages like these are solved relatively quickly, though depending on the root cause, the fix may take some time to implement. As such, you may be without your AI tools for some time on Thursday, but without more information, it's impossible to say for sure. I'll continue to monitor the situation and update this piece accordingly.
