Of course Walmart is holding an anti-Prime Day sale this October

Walmart is latest retailer to join in on the anti-Prime Day sales. Its Fall Deals event kicks off Oct. 5 and runs through Oct. 11, with savings on tech, home, toys, and more.

Walmart storefront

Like clockwork, any time Amazon announces a Prime Day event, Walmart conveniently launches a counter sale. This October appears to be no different. Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, casually known as October Prime Day, is coming Oct. 6 and 7. So it's no coincidence that Walmart is throwing its own week-long sale starting Oct. 5.

Walmart's sale is simply named Fall Deals and unlike Prime Big Deal Days, you don't need to be a Walmart+ member to shop. However, most often with Walmart sales, members will get first dibs on deals. It costs $98 per year for a Walmart+ membership, but you can try it out for 30 days for just a buck.

There's not a whole lot of info yet on Walmart's anti-Prime Day sale, but here's a breakdown of what we do know. We'll update this story with more details as they become available.

When is Walmart's anti-Prime Day event?

As the countdown on the sale's landing page shows, the Fall Deals event will kick off at midnight ET on Oct. 5. While Amazon's event only lasts 48 hours, Walmart will keep the fun going for a full week, wrapping up on Oct. 11.

Walmart+ members will likely get early access to the Fall Deals event, though the specific time has yet to be announced. Stay tuned.

What will be on sale during Walmart's Fall Deals event?

While there's no formal announcement yet from Walmart, an initial landing page is teasing deals across several categories. Here's a glimpse at what's to come:

  • Up to 30% off toys

  • Up to 50% off home

  • Up to 40% off "home upgrades"

  • Up to 25% off tools

  • Up to 30% off Halloween deals, from candy to decor

  • Up to 40% off tech

  • Up to 25% off wellness deals
