Police determine that a Maine Bigfoot was actually man in a 'very convincing costume'

Maine police launched a Bigfoot investigation after an unusually high number of sighting calls, only to find a man in a very convincing costume.

Most Bigfoot mysteries go unsolved. There's either no evidence or evidence that isn't sufficient, like a blurry picture or a print in mud that sort of looks like an oversized foot.

This one is one of the ones that police were able to get to the bottom of. It started with several sightings being reported to the Damariscotta Police Department in Damariscotta, Maine last week.

Due to what the police department reported on Facebook were an "unusually high number of calls" they launched an investigation and determined that "Bigfoot is not real."

I think what they meant to say is that this Bigfoot is not real. Perhaps that the supposed Bigfoot was wearing was a giveaway. An officer located the Bigfoot and, after a conversation, determined that it was a man in a costume.

Not just any costume, a "very convincing costume."

The police department took some positive aspects away from the investigation despite the disappointment that a hat wearing Bigfoot was nothing more than a man in a costume.

"We greatly appreciate everyone’s excitement, curiosity, and willingness to keep an eye out for one another," they wrote. "We also appreciate all the calls and information that came in. Rest assured, we were on the hunt from the very beginning."

A community coming together and looking out for one another. Maybe that's what Bigfoot has been trying to get across to us the entire time.

"While we didn't find Bigfoot, we did find something almost as rare: A town full of people willing to stop what they're doing to investigate a Bigfoot sighting and keep each other safe," the police department's post continued.

"And honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way."

They may not have had a Bigfoot wandering around their town and the several sightings turned out to be nothing, but the folks of Damariscotta have something more important than that.

They have one another.
