Mashable Tech Editor Timothy Beck Werth gave the Galaxy Z Flip 8 a 4.25 out of 5 rating and a Mashable Selects award, calling it "an interesting phone in a time when most phones are aggressively boring." He singled out the lightweight frame, subtle crease, and customizable outer display as major wins, praising the pink colorway as "our favorite phone design in years."

However, he did point out that the 50MP main camera is "just OK" and the 10MP selfie camera could be eliminated in favor of using the cover screen preview. Despite those minor trade-offs, he concluded that "if you don't need a 200MP camera or 8K video recording... then this phone will suit your needs just fine."
