SNL UK mocks King Charles and Ed Sheeran in AI-themed sketch
"SNL UK" has taken aim at both Ed Sheeran and King Charles in its cold open.
King Charles, an AI version of Princess Diana, and Ed Sheeran are the unusual combination brought together in SNL UK's latest cold open, during which a D.I.A.N.A AI-bot goes rogue and the king is forced to beg for Sheeran's help as the apocalypse nears.
"I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. You see I was just outside, sitting on the fence," says Sheeran (Annabel Marlow), who has faced criticism this week after Macklemore was dropped from his tour for pro-Palestinian statements. "You know sometimes, when it comes to conflicts, the bravest thing you can do is to say nothing at all."
Cue an impressively cringe-inducing song about "both sides" being "equally right".
Elsewhere, the singer was also roasted in the show's "Weekend Update" segment.
