Michael Douglas admits he almost left his wife for his 'Basic Instinct' co-star after affair
Michael Douglas reveals in his memoir "One Helluva Ride" that he had affairs with his "Basic Instint" co-star and Kathleen Turner on set of hit films.
Michael Douglas is letting go of all his secrets in his new memoir.
According to Page Six, the 82-year-old actor disclosed in his new book, "One Helluva Ride, that he had an affair with a co-star almost 20 years his junior while filming the 1992 movie, "Basic Instinct."
While many at the time believed Douglas and his on-screen love interest, Sharon Stone, were having an affair in real life, the actor admitted in the memoir that it was actually actress Jeanne Tripplehorn with whom he was having the affair.
"The truth is, I fell very hard for Jeanne despite our nearly 20-year age difference," he said in the book. "In fact, I was ready to officially leave my wife for Jeanne. I was crazy about her."

At the time, Douglas was still married to his first wife, Diandra Luker, although he has said they were separated and living separate lives. Luker eventually filed for divorce in 1995.
He went on to say that his "relationship with Jeanne lasted through production," but that they "went our separate ways" once they were done making the film.
"But I will always think of her as an amazing actress and a truly terrific woman that I was very fortunate to spend time with," he added.
"Basic Instinct" follows Douglas' character, homicide detective Nick Curran, as he is seduced by a crime novelist and prime murder suspect, played by Sharon Stone. Tripplehorn portrayed police psychologist Dr. Beth Garner, who was also Curran's lover.

Elsewhere in the book, the "Wall Street" actor admitted to engaging in an affair with Kathleen Turner when they worked together on the 1984 movie, "Romancing the Stone."
This admission came after more than 40 years of the two of them denying they had an extramarital affair on set, with Douglas writing they lied about the affair to protect Luker and their son, Cameron.
"The truth is that during the production of Romancing the Stone, Kathleen and I fell hard for each other and began a relationship," he wrote in an excerpt obtained by People. "It wasn’t a fly-by night affair; it grew naturally from how closely we were working together, how much pressure we were under, how much we respected and cared for one another, and how attracted we were to each other. Like every other guy in the world at the time, I was knocked sideways by Kathleen."
He wrote that when he left home to film the movie, he and Luker were "still technically married, but separated," and that while audiences were "certain for years that we were in a relationship together" while making the movie, they denied it, even through the making of the sequel and years later when they reunited on "The Kominsky Method."

They not only kept the affair a secret from the public, but also the movie's other cast and crew, with Douglas noting they would sneak into each other's rooms after filming had wrapped for the day.
Turner and Douglas decided to end things after Luker visited them on set with Cameron "and made it clear to her [Turner] that we were still married."
