‘Ruthless’ podcast discusses new details in Michigan and Maine's Democratic campaigns

The Ruthless Podcast spotlighted lesser reported controversial beliefs of Democratic candidates running in Michigan and Maine on an episode Wednesday.

In an episode published Wednesday morning, the "Ruthless Podcast" discussed Senate and House campaign details from Michigan and Maine unreported by other media outlets.

"It's almost like they understand what a Trojan horse is," podcast co-host Comfortably Smug said. "Where it's like you get elected, and then you do the Looney Tunes s---, because that’s the plan here."

The hosts outlined a series of tweets where Michigan’s Democratic nominee for Senate, Abdul El-Sayed, revealed close proximity to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) movement.

UNEARTHED SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS CONTRADICT EL-SAYED’S ‘CAPITALIST’ NARRATIVE

In the posts, El-Sayed is seen at DSA events with key movement figures such as Linda Sarsour and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and also backing central causes like the ‘Green New Deal.’

"It’s interesting for a guy who [claims to] not be a socialist, [and that] he's a capitalist, to be a featured speaker at an event that labels itself the climate crisis is a crisis of capitalism," podcast co-host Josh Holmes said of a tweet from 2019 highlighting an event co-sponsored by the DSA and Sunrise Movement.

The series of tweets displayed by the hosts contrasts with El-Sayed’s recent claims from the candidate that he was not a member of the DSA.

A recent poll by Fox News showed El-Sayed leading Republican nominee Mike Rogers 50% to 49%.

DEMOCRATS THINK A BLUE WAVE IS BUILDING. HERE ARE 3 FORCES THAT COULD STOP IT

The "Ruthless" hosts also discussed the posts of another Michigan Democrat.

In the seventh congressional district, CNN reported that William Lawrence has deleted hundreds of social media posts featuring radical opinions. The tweets included rhetoric like "f--- … the nuclear family," and calls to abolish the Senate and defund the police.

"I think that this is so much of what the left has become," Smug said of the uncovered tweets. "It's just like these insane weirdos who are like, 'My defining belief is I hate the nuclear family,"

Lawrence will face incumbent Tom Barrett, R-Mich., in the general election.

With weeks to go before the November 3rd midterms, the hosts turned their attention to Maine. In a competitive House race in Maine’s second congressional district, Democratic nominee Matt Dunlap has come under fire for voting to increase the gas tax.

Townhall previously reported that as a state legislator, Dunlap supported increasing the gas tax and the vehicle registration fee. In recent weeks, Dunlap doubled down, saying it was "absolutely ... the right vote."

In another vote in Augusta, Breitbart reported that Dunlap voted against giving lifetime probation to repeat sex offenders.

"They're deeply unpopular," Smug said of the two votes. "But you got to take a stand somewhere. It's principle. That's what you can count on," he added jokingly.

"Raise the cost of your gas and let pedophiles off the hook," podcast co-host Michael Duncan added.

Dunlap faces former Gov. Paul LePage in the general election.

"We’ve said it numerous times on the show, but it feels like the politics that they have is really just downstream of the failures of their own lives," Duncan told his fellow co-hosts. "It's like they're just losers and have no friends that can't split an apartment."
