Some of the Black Friday MacBook deals we expected to see later this month have arrived early. As of Nov. 6, Amazon and Best Buy are both selling two popular configurations of the Apple MacBook Air (M5) for $250 off, a discount that completely erases their summer price hikes —and then some.
For the uninitiated, the M5 MacBook Air is a Mashable Choice Award winner. Tech editor Timothy Beck Werth called it "an impressive piece of machinery" with a premium, lightweight design, a "fantastic" display, and a ridiculously fast processor. (Read his full MacBook Air review.) This is the most recent version of the MacBook Air, as Apple's recent MacBook releases focused solely on the Pro models.
The 13-inch MacBook Air with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage has fallen to $1,349 (normally $1,599), while its 15-inch counterpart is marked down to $1,549 (typically $1,799). The other configurations of Apple's sleek and speedy ultraportable are all $200 off, which isn't too shabby in the age of RAMageddon.
We feel confident in recommending these MacBook deals to early bird shoppers. Last Black Friday, no retailers' MacBook discounts exceeded $250. In 2024, Amazon offered $255 off a couple models, but we don't think a potential extra $5 savings is worth waiting several weeks for; at that point, you risk your preferred model selling out.
